A charming illustration of an elegant lady gracefully ice skating, originally from a 1950s vintage children's book by A.H. Watson. The soft and delicate colors make it an ideal addition to a nursery or a child's bedroom!
Alice Helena Watson (1896-1984) was a British illustrator primarily recognized for her contributions to children's literature. Her illustrative career took off in 1923 when she was commissioned to illustrate Compton MacKenzie's Santa Claus in Summer. Notably, her personal and artistic lives were closely intertwined. She not only illustrated books written by her sister, Euphemia (known as "Effie"), but she also married fellow artist Alistair Kenneth MacDonald. Their collaboration was so seamless that distinguishing their unsigned work can be quite challenging!
Our prints are suitable for framing or can be used as is for wall display.
