Retta Scott Worcester (1916–1990), a fellow Seattleite (she graduated from Seattle's Roosevelt High School in 1934!), holds a unique place in the world of illustration. Her journey led her to become the first woman to receive screen credit as an animator at the esteemed Walt Disney Animation Studios. During her time there, she lent her artistic talents to iconic films such as Bambi, Fantasia, and Dumbo, etching her name into the history of animation. Later, she beautifully illustrated Cinderella, in Disney's signature style, for its Little Golden Book adaptation, among other magical titles she brought to life for the brand. Worcester's legacy in illustrated children's literature continues to shine brightly, enchanting readers of all ages.
