Else Wenz-Viëtor (1882-1973) was a highly acclaimed German illustrator, renowned for her work in children's literature during the 1920s and 1930s. Born in Sorau, which is now located in western Poland, Wenz-Viëtor's love for plants and animals became prominent themes in her illustrations. Her illustrious career began in 1903 when she illustrated her first book, marking the beginning of a prolific journey that saw her contribute to over 150 books. In addition to her work in children's literature, she also worked as a freelance artist in the interior design industry. Continuing the family tradition, her daughter, Hedda Obermaier-Wenz, followed in her mother's footsteps and became a children's book illustrator as well!
