Revere F. Wistehuff (1900-1971) is prominent in American commercial art history, celebrated for his captivating domestic figure and genre illustrations. His art often captured the enchantment of children at play and celebrated patriotic themes, reflecting the core of American life and values during the era, usually seen on magazine covers. As a central figure in the New Rochelle Art Colony during the 1920s, '30s, and '40s, affectionately known as "Wistey" to friends, he stood shoulder to shoulder with renowned cover artists like J.C. Leyendecker, Norman Rockwell, and Walter Beach Humphrey. His work graced the covers of numerous national magazines and found its way into the advertising art of major brands of the time.
