OUTSIDE GREETING: Here's To You
BLANK INSIDE
We'd love to raise a glass and share a picnic blanket with this zebra! Jean Colin drew this party animal in 1951 to advertise Cinzano, an Italian vermouth. As a greeting card, it's versatile enough to send for a celebratory occasion or "just because" to a friend.
Born in Paris, Jean Colin (1912-1982) began his artistic career following military service. Joining Raymond Gid's studio, Colin ventured into book design, political propaganda, and advertising, swiftly carving out his distinctive visual style. His participation in exhibitions like the Salon des Artistes Décorateurs of 1947 showcased his burgeoning talent. A pivotal moment arrived in 1951 when he laid the foundation for the Alliance Graphique Internationale, which was established the following year alongside other notable contemporary designers. With over 300 poster designs to his credit, he gained widespread acclaim and numerous accolades, solidifying his reputation internationally. Renowned for his vibrant and witty creations, he left an indelible mark on advertising campaigns for large brands in Europe and the United States.
