Beginning in the 1940s, Swiss artist Eugen Hartung (1897-1930), made illustrations of naturalistically painted cats that were published as postcards. He created more than two hundred designs. These cats mirror our human activities, and are both satirical and endearing. His ingenuity in thinking up situations in which he can turn humans into cats is remarkable and results in dozens of entertaining scenes.
