We dug into the Darling Family Archive and found a magnificent set of antique books, entitled Johnson’s Household Book of Nature: Mammalia, printed by electrotype in New York in 1880. This wonderful tome contains stunning full color illustrations, with no names given of illustrator or engraver, per the tradition of that time. With deep thanks to the unknown artists of Johnson’s book.
