OUTSIDE GREETING: Happy Birthday Beautiful!

BLANK INSIDE

When this beautiful butterfly lady by F.X. Leyendecker first graced the cover of Life magazine in 1922, the piece was appropriately named The Flapper, reflecting her of-the-moment style and stunning wings! Additional fun fact: a print of this magazine cover was a standout feature in the 1970s sitcom Three's Company apartment set! We've adapted it into this elegant greeting card, perfect for any beautiful recipient.

Frank Xavier Leyendecker (1876–1924) was a gifted illustrator whose talent and creativity rivaled his older brother, the legendary J.C. Leyendecker. Born in Montabaur, Germany, Frank emigrated to the United States with his family at six. He honed his craft at the Chicago Art Institute and the Académie Julian in Paris alongside his brother. In the early 1900s, Frank was the more widely recognized of the two brothers, creating striking covers for Collier’s magazine between 1902 and 1905. During their careers, the brothers shared a home, studio, and a spirited artistic rivalry. Beyond magazine covers, his work spanned stained glass, posters, book illustrations, and advertisements. Though his life was tragically cut short at 48, his artistry and contributions to illustration remain an enduring part of the Golden Age of American illustration.
