BLANK INSIDE
This classic Christmas scene is from Little Golden Books' take on the classic Christmas poem, A Visit from St. Nicholas, a.k.a. 'Twas the Night Before Christmas by Clement Clarke Moore, originally written in 1832! This version, The Night Before Christmas, illustrated by Corinne Malvern, was first published in 1949. Its timeless charm and festive spirit make it the perfect source for crafting heartwarming holiday greeting cards.
Corinne Malvern (1901–1956) was an extraordinary talent who led a fascinating life! She had a unique start as a child actress alongside her sister, Gladys, performing in plays, vaudeville shows, operas, and even a silent movie, all thanks to their mother's work as a wardrobe mistress for theater companies. As a young teen, she transitioned from the spotlight to the canvas by studying at the Rhode Island School of Design, ultimately launching her career as a commercial artist and fashion illustrator. For a time, she was the art editor for Ladies' Home Journal, where her talent graced the magazine's covers. Alongside her sister, who had become a writer, the dynamic duo embarked on another partnership, venturing into the world of children's books. Together, they crafted stories that set the stage for Corinne's significant contributions to the realm of Little Golden Books—her work there includes beloved titles like Heidi, Frosty the Snow Man, The Night Before Christmas, Doctor Dan the Bandage Man, and Nurse Nancy. We're delighted to know her through her work!
