INSIDE GREETING: Sending you sunny thoughts and the best of good wishes.

These lovely ladies unveil a congratulatory message! Originally gracing the cover of Fashions of the Hour, the spring 1923 catalog for Marshall Field and Company, an upscale department store in Chicago, this artwork is a delightful example of Japonisme, reflecting the influence of Japanese culture on the arts and fashion of that era. It makes for a truly unique greeting card!

Joseph Bolegard (1889-1963), a prominent American magazine illustrator, was born in Treviso, Italy, where his early talent for drawing was evident. He honed his skills at the Academy of Fine Arts in Bologna, exhibiting his oils in Italy by age 20. After moving to America, he made a name for himself in decorative and graphic arts, particularly excelling as an illustrator. Renowned for his contributions to magazines, advertisements, and fashion illustrations, his work left a lasting impact on the visual landscape of his time.
