Zodiac, Alphonse Mucha's first work for the printer Champenois was originally created as an in-house calendar. The woman's regal presence and ornate jewelry accentuate her majestic beauty, while the halo-like disk behind her showcases the twelve zodiac signs. The stunning design caught the eye of Léon Deschamps, who acquired the rights for La Plume magazine's 1897 calendar. This became one of Mucha's most popular designs, with multiple variants. And in case you were wondering, his July 24th birthday made him a Leo! See this image on a greeting card!
