Originally created in collaboration with the New York Public Library for their 2022 exhibition "Virginia Woolf: A Modern Mind," this pocket notebook set features reproductions of the actual covers of notebooks used by Woolf to draft novels and essays, including The Pargiters and The Waves. Capturing the rich patterns in exquisite detail, the sturdy covers make these slim notebooks perfect to carry with you everywhere. Virginia Woolf (1882-1941) was an influential English modernist writer, born Adeline Virginia Stephen in London. Raised in a literary household, she began her career writing for literary magazines before gaining renown for her novels, essays, and literary criticism. She was a prominent member of the Bloomsbury Group, a circle of intellectuals and artists who profoundly influenced British culture in the early 20th century. Her novels, such as Mrs. Dalloway, To the Lighthouse, and Orlando, are celebrated for their innovative narrative techniques exploring themes of identity, gender, and time. Her non-fiction works, including A Room of One's Own and Three Guineas, are foundational in feminist literary criticism. Woolf's life was marked by struggles with mental illness, ultimately leading to her tragic suicide in 1941. Despite this, her literary legacy continues to inspire worldwide, cementing her as a pivotal figure in 20th-century literature.
